San Jose, Calif. -  Grammy-winning blues and rock and roll artist Jonny Lang will headline the annual Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon post-race concert Sunday, October 4, 2009. The concert will take place immediately after the race finishes, on the Finish Line Festival stage in Plaza de Cesar Chavez.

Lang will perform for more than 13,000 runners, walkers and music fans from around the world as they celebrate their race-day accomplishments at the party in Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose. Awards will be presented at the finish line at 10:30 am, and the opening act will begin as runners cross the finish line, at 11:00 am. Lang will take the stage at approximately 12:00 pm. The concert is free and open to the public.

A professional musician since age 12, Lang rocketed from his hometown of Fargo, North Dakota, to international renown in his mid teens. While kids his age were still playing high school gigs, he was touring with giants like the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith, trading licks with mentors like B. B. King and Buddy Guy, and being lauded by U.S. News and World Report for having “the voice of a grizzled blues veteran … and guitar skills to match.” The Grammy-winning, former prodigy instrumentalist stands now as a mature creative force, made more sensitive yet also toughened by life’s adventures. He’s learned what it means to rise above hard times and to find meaning where chaos seemed to rule.

“It’s very exciting to have an artist as talented as Jonny join us at the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon,” said Shannon Davis, event manager of the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon.  “The finish line party at Plaza de Cesar Chavez is always a fun community event, but Jonny’s talent will really bring that ’superstar’ feel to the day.”
