XSport Fitness Becomes Title Sponsor of the XSport Fitness Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon
25,000 participants expected for August event benefiting the American Cancer Society
Chicago, IL – April 14, 2011 – Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI), the leading media and event resource in the active lifestyle industry, and XSport Fitness today announced a new title sponsor partnership with the XSport Fitness Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon benefiting the American Cancer Society. With 22 locations throughout the Chicagoland area, XSport Fitness is one of the fastest growing fitness chains in the nation. The third annual event will take place the morning of Sunday, August 14 in downtown Chicago and has sold out in each of its previous two years.

The XSport Fitness Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon benefiting the American Cancer Society will feature live bands, cheerleaders and a block party atmosphere as runners tour the Second City’s best sights and scenic landmarks. In a unique sponsorship opportunity for runners, XSport Fitness will offer half-marathon training programs at each of its Chicago-area fitness facilities and encourage both new and existing members to participate.
XSport Fitness will also serve as the official packet pick-up location for the Inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago 5K on Sunday, June 19, 2011. The event, which takes place in Lincoln Park at Montrose Harbor Beach, will launch the new ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Tune-Up Series’ featuring musical motivation along the course and a finish line concert. The 5K offers runners the chance to “tune-up” their legs and lungs for a bigger Rock ‘n’ Roll challenge as the perfect milestone for half-marathon training.

Half marathon weekend in Chicago kicks off on Friday, August 12 with a two-day Health & Fitness Expo presented by Power Balance at McCormick Place. Serious runners, beginners and casual shoppers can access the very latest in running gear, nutrition, and experts hosting interactive clinics each day. The XSport Fitness Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon benefiting the American Cancer Society starts at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 14, followed by a post-race concert in Grant Park. More than 25,000 participants are expected.
