Carnival King: Rick from Sulphur, LA

Our Carnival King hails from Sulphur, Louisiana and is an Executive Pastor at Victory Worship Center. Three years ago Rick’s passion for running began after seeing a flyer for an upcoming 5K and convinced his staff to all participate. That was three years ago and the rest is history! Since then he has participated in three ½ marathons, a couple of 10K’s, and many 5K’s.

Rick says about running, “It is easy to fall in love with running and the people you meet who share your sport.  It challenges you to push past your limitations and gives you a sense of accomplishment, as well as melts away the stress of busy days.  And who doesn’t love feeling like you are in great shape!”

Carnival Queen: Sharon from Seneca, SC

Despite committing to running the full Marathon; our Carnival Queen claims to have never been a runner or particularly athletic. Two years ago that all changed after listening to a fellow runner talk about running marathons. She started slowly training and has completed 15 marathons  since that time. Sharon says about her running technique, “I am not fast – but my mantra is slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.”

Fun facts about Sharon: She is a proud member of the Marathon Maniacs, a huge fan of Jack White, Foo Fighters, and Pearl Jam (120 shows!), and on a quest for a marathon in all 50 states.
