Warm Weather Running Tips

A Message from the Medical Team

The Sports Medicine Team wants you to have a great, safe and healthy race.
Here are a few tips for running in warm weather:

•    Do not push yourself. Run at a comfortable pace and ease up if you feel warm.
•    Eat salted foods. Eat one salt packet at the start line and another half way through the race.
Salt will be available in each start line corral and again at water stations at mile 7 (marathon &         half course) and mile 16.6 (marathon course) through the race.
•    Don’t over-drink. Drink when you are thirsty, and no more.
•    Use spray stations along the course and at the finish to cool off.
•    If you’re warm and don’t feel right, stop at a medical station to get checked out by a
physician.

Visit our website for more information and stop by the Health and Fitness Expo to listen to Dr. Paul Saenz and Dr. Eliot Young speak. They will be available for questions at the medical information booth (under the red balloon) during expo hours.
