Denver, CO – April 2, 2012 – Riding on two wheels has long been a favorite way to tour the scenic streets of the Mile High City and now, cyclists of all skill levels can take part in an unprecedented ride at the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Bike Tour.
The 24-mile course will take 750 cyclists from Civic Center Park, through many of the city’s breathtaking parks, unique neighborhoods and landmarks with views of the stunning Rocky Mountains along the way. The Bike Tour will start prior to the 3rd annual Sports Authority Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Marathon & ½ Marathon benefiting the Prostate Cancer Foundation on Saturday, September 22nd.
“Colorado is known for its love of bicycling and is extremely bike-friendly, so we’re really excited to be able to offer this option to riders here,” said Kari Logan, Event Director. “So many athletes love to both ride and run, and this non-competitive format allows a broad range of people to experience Rock ‘n’ Roll in a new way.”
Riders will enjoy many of the same benefits as runners, with on-course bike support, technical t-shirts, race bibs, a finisher’s medal and access to the post-race concert and finish line festival.
The bike ride will not be timed, and will be limited to top speeds of 20 mph and minimum speeds of 10 mph. Riders will also have access to a post-race bike check while they enjoy the finish line festival and beer garden, where all participants will enjoy a free beer.
Registration is limited to 750 participants, and is available online at Competitor.com for $60.
