Seattle, WA – May 6, 2013 – Since being named Best New Artist at the American Music Awards two years ago, Hot Chelle Rae has been touring worldwide and making their mark on the music industry. On Saturday, June 22, the foursome will perform for more than 20,000 runners at the finish line of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon & ½ Marathon, a Seafair signature event.
The pop group’s second album Whatever sold more than 6 million singles and earned them chart toppers like “Tonight Tonight” and “I Like It Like That.” Their most recent single, “Hung Up” is the first release from their upcoming album due out later this year. The band has toured with pop headliners Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift, and appeared on numerous major television shows, including “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2012,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”
“Hot Chelle Rae will provide the high energy performance our runners will appreciate as they celebrate their 26.2 or 13.1 mile accomplishment with family and friends,” said Alex Bennett, Event Director. “Seattle Center provides a perfect backdrop for the post-race party and we welcome spectators to come out and cheer on the runners as we kick off the Seafair summer Rock ‘n’ Roll style.”
Hot Chelle Rae will perform at the downtown Seattle Center, where the race will start and finish. In 2013, the race has a slightly updated course, creating a clear, spectacular view of the iconic Space Needle and downtown skyline. Runners will tour downtown and run past landmarks like CenturyLink Field and Safeco Field, as well as miles along the stunning Lake Washington waterfront. The post-race concert and finish line festival are free and open to the public.
Race weekend will kick off with a two-day Health and Fitness Expo at CenturyLink Field, featuring more than one hundred fitness retailers, exhibits and interactive clinics on Thursday, June 20th and Friday, June 21st.
