Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis Searching for Locals Bands to Perform On Course
ST. LOUIS, MO – August 13, 2013 – The Quinn Family Foundation Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis Marathon & ½ Marathon To Benefit Team Activities for Special Kids (TASK) is calling all local bands to apply for the opportunity to perform along the 26.2 or 13.1-mile course on race day, Sunday, October 27. Applications with samples of music, a band bio and a publicity photo should be submitted online at solutionsaz.com/rnrseries by Friday, August 23.
Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis partnered with Entertainment Solutions, Inc. to locate the best, high-energy local music from all genres. More than 26 bands will perform along the course to musically motivate participants at every mile of the race.
“Not only do we show off some of St. Louis’ scenic hot spots along the course, but the sounds of live, local music also helps highlight the city’s flair,” said Natalie Miyake, event manager. “People have come to know and love the musical energy that the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series rolls out, but it’s the local flavor of the tunes that really gets people going.”
Entertainment Solutions listens to each musical submission, reviews the band’s history, and determines what bands could motivate the runners. To accompany the live music, enthusiastic cheerleaders, themed water stations and cheering spectators will also help encourage participants along the way.
“As we search for local bands to perform on the course, we strive to collect a wide variety of musical styles and genres. Most importantly, we’re looking for high energy performances that will keep the runners motivated and entertained,” said Ken Koziol, Senior Vice President at Entertainment Solutions. “We know St. Louis has a talented music scene and we look forward to showcasing that to thousands of runners.”
In addition to live bands at every mile, Atlas Genius will take the stage following the 13.1 and 26.2-mile block party through the streets of St. Louis. Starting on Market Street and finishing on N. 15th Street at Chestnut, the race will tour the city’s parks and landmarks under changing fall leaves and ideal running weather. The 2013 race will feature a marathon, half marathon and 2-person half marathon relay.
Race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo at America’s Center on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26. More than 100 retailers will be on hand, offering the latest in nutrition, fitness apparel, and more, along with a series of interactive clinics with running experts.
