Portland, OR – Feb. 10, 2014 – The bluesy, swaggering sound of G. Love, aka Garret Dutton, has earned him hit songs and passionate fans around the world and on Sunday, May 18, he’ll perform for more than 10,000 runners at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Portland Half Marathon.

G. Love & Special Sauce is known for knee-jerking, harmonica laden performances interlaced with hip  hop flavor and a heavy blues influence. He’s performed and recorded alongside Jack Johnson, and has a wealth of  well known hits like Baby’s Got Sauce and Sunshine in addition to songs from his most recent collection, “Fixin’ to Die.” His fifth solo album, “Sugar,” is set to release in April.

“G. Love’s familiarity with fans and energetic live shows are a perfect mix to bring race day to a celebratory end,” said Alex Bennett, event director. “We’re excited to have him and we know our runners will enjoy the post-race concert, along with another successful race day in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.”

The performance will take place at Waterfront Park, where the race will finish after touring through scenic Portland. Runners will start on Naito Parkway downtown, running along the serene waterfront, heading into East Portland via the Hawthorne Bridge, alongside Laurelhurst Park and across the iconic Steel Bridge before returning downtown to the park. The concert is free and open to the public.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Portland mixes music and entertainment with running, staging live, local bands every mile of the course. Cheerleaders and themed water stations will round out the experience, along with motivating spectators and a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Runners of all abilities are encouraged to register at RunRocknRoll.com/Portland.

The Health & Fitness Expo will kickoff event weekend on Friday, May 16 at the Oregon Convention Center. The expo is free and open to the public featuring the latest health and nutrition information with a variety of products for sample and sale, as well as a series of interactive fitness clinics.
