Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series and RaceKids Launch Race Day Camp for Kids
- RaceKids becomes official day camp partner of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series
- Partnership to kickoff at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Festival in Virginia Beach, August 29-31
- Additional 2014 events include Denver, Savannah and San Antonio with more added in 2015
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series and RaceKids, an innovative Day Camp for children of race participants, today announced a partnership as the Official Day Camp Partner of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, offering parents a safe and fun place for their kids while they race.
RaceKids is on-site day camp available during marathons and half marathon races. Developed by a Marathon Mom and a Daycare Supervisor, the RaceKids Day Camp operates under the highest standard of care available in North America. Each staff member is fully trained in First Aid, CPR, and Epi-Pen Administration.
“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with an innovative service like RaceKids,” said Tracy Sundlun, SVP and co-founder of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. “With so many mothers and fathers participating in our events, arranging for a babysitter or child care can often be a difficult task early on a weekend morning. This partnership with RaceKids offers a safe and fun day camp so parents can enjoy running their marathon or half-marathon.”
Marathon day camps will be located inside one of the headquarter hotels closest to the start line, with doors opening 90 minutes prior to race start. Marathon day camps will be an eight hour program and half marathon camps will offer a six hour agenda.
With the announcement, RaceKids day camps will be offered at four events beginning with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Festival in Virginia Beach on Labor Day Weekend. Other cities include Denver, Savannah and San Antonio. The multi-year agreement will include more cities across the Rock ‘n’ Roll Series in 2015.
“Now parents won’t have to worry about leaving their kids at home when traveling to races and don’t spend the extra money to bring another adult along,” said Brandy Vaillancourt, co-founder of RaceKids. “Our day camps will give your child their own awesome race day experience, with interactive games, snack time and special guest speakers to provide entertainment.”
The Rock ‘n’ Roll series of marathons and half marathons are known for placing entertainment stages along the race course, lining the route with hundreds of local cheerleaders and then topping the experience off with a finish line concert celebration for all participants. The musically-themed races have spearheaded an active lifestyle movement that provides a unique entertainment outlet for people from all walks of life.
