Rock 'n' Roll Portland 1/2 Marathon
I love to run!! 14 years ago, I was intimidated of the phrase “distance running”, until I finally faced my fears and joined cross country as a senior in high school. I went on to excel in college, winning a national title and setting the NCAA D3 record in the steeplechase, along with 12 other All American honors. Post collegiately, my passion for the sport never waned as I dominated as a high school running camp counselor, worked for Saucony promoting the sport, became assistant coach at local high schools and recently became track coach at Nike World Headquarters. I have never been able to let go of the competitive side to running and have been a top finisher in dozens of races on the road, track and cross country course. The longest I race has been the half marathon (a 1:19:05 PR) with my most memorable being Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach! My nitch has become the 3000m steeplechase, as I have been ranked in the top 50 in the US for most years during the past decade. As a new mom, this past summer I was able to defy the odds coming back from childbirth and a hip injury, with a PR by over 20 seconds faster than my previous years- running 9:55 and finishing 9th in the finals at USAs. PRs aside, all I know is that I can’t live without running and live to share my joy with those I meet!
I’ve experienced being a runner at every fitness level and respect it all. I love to motivate people!! My passion and enthusiasm for the sport is at an all time high, which I find is contagious to pass on to others! I love seeing people using their bodies to accomplish goals they never thought were possible!!
