Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2
I have always been really good at running fast in short distances. I became a sprinter in high school because I was faster than the ball itself while playing basketball. There was a point in every game when I would steal the ball away, sprint down the court to get a breakaway layup and miss. I was literally in front of the ball and couldn't slow myself down. It was then that I tried out for the track team, ended up winning state in the 200m dash and went on to run Division 1 track and field. I learned shortly after college that I wasn't going to be able to run like that competitively forever. While training as a sprinter is a lot different than long distance, I am now on my third marathon. I love the feeling of running and functional fitness.
I can rock while I roll, as in, I love music while I'm running. I am constantly making playlists to keep myself and other people moving. I can honestly say that it's not just about me "rocking" anymore, it is about everyone else around me. There is nothing I love more than watching other people succeed in achieving goals that they thought were completely unattainable.
