Heavy Medals
Rock the 2012 Tour and Become a Heavy Medalist!
When you complete two or more races in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series within a single calendar year (January 1st – December 31st 2012), you’ll qualify for some serious extra bling! For information on how to qualify for Heavy Medals, please see the information below. Check out the whole 2012 Heavy Medal lineup and get rocking!
How it Works:
There is no application necessary to receive Heavy Medals. When you qualify for a medal, you’ll receive your medal in the mail within 8-10 weeks from the date of your qualifying event. You can earn multiple Heavy Medals within one year by completing additional events.
There is no cost for these medals – you earn them, and we send them! Heavy Medals are sent to the address used during registration for the qualifying event. If you reach Rock Star status, you will be eligible to pick up your Heavy Medals at your qualifying event. Rock Star qualifiers will receive an email notification prior to their qualifying event with more details.
Qualifying Events:
- You must register for and complete at least two or more 2012 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series North American Tour Stops. Only North American Tour Stops will be counted toward your total number of events completed.
- Completed events must be marathon or half marathon distance to qualify. In 2012, the New York 10k will also qualify as one event.
- For information on Heavy Medals and 2012 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series European Tour Stops, please see the World Rocker Heavy Medal website.
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must register for qualifying Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events using the same first and last name, and date of birth. Please be mindful of any abbreviation or hyphenation during the registration process.
- You must register using an address that you are able to receive mail at. Please keep in mind that medals typically arrive within 8-10 weeks after your qualifying event. Medals sent to an address that is incorrect or not current, or medals that are returned to sender will not be re-sent.

Heavy Medals: Frequently Asked Questions
Registration Information
Do I need an account on Active.com or RaceIt to receive Heavy Medals?
When you register for 2012 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events, you have the option to create an account and sign in through either the Active.com or RaceIt registration system. Although using one account on these registration systems is not required at this time, Heavy Medalists are encouraged to create and use an account during registration to help ensure information is consistent between registrations. Please save your account information for future use as you will be asked for it during future event registration.
I registered online for one event and then at the expo for another. How will they know to put the registrations under the same account?
When you register for events, make sure to use the same first and last name, and date of birth. Be mindful of hyphens, abbreviations and spelling. If you have two registrations with different information, we will not be able to match your race completions automatically and you may not receive your medal(s).
I registered with a Charity for one of my races. Will this registration count toward Heavy Medals?
When you register with a Charity for an event, please make sure to use the same first and last name, and date of birth as your previous registrations. Be mindful of hyphens, abbreviations and spelling. If you have two registrations with different information, we will not be able to match your race completions automatically and you may not receive your medal(s).
Medals Not Received
I have not received my medal. How can I check the status?
Medals are typically shipped 8-10 weeks after the event. Medals are shipped in waves so please allow the full time frame to process your award. Holidays and adverse weather conditions may cause delays in medal delivery. During these periods medals may be delayed as much as 10 weeks.
If you have not received your medal after this time frame, please contact us.
Common Reasons Medals are NOT Received
- The mailing address listed during registration for your qualifying event was incorrect or out of date
- Your name or date of birth differed between registrations completed
- You completed a distance other than what you registered for (registered for full marathon, ran half marathon)
- The finishing time for one of your events was not recorded properly.
Not sure the problem? Contact us and we will be happy to help you.
My Heavy Medal was sent to an old address. Can I still receive it?
If a medal is sent to an address that you are no longer receiving mail at OR sent back to us “Return to Sender,” your medal will not be re-sent and you will not be notified. To avoid this issue, please ensure that your address is current and correct during all event registrations.
I should have received a Heavy Medal in a past year. Can I still receive it?
If you did not receive a medal for a past year, please contact us. Heavy Medals may be requested up to 6 months after the qualifying event, but are only offered as supplies last.
Medal Questions
Are Heavy Medal awards affected by the event distance I completed?
Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events completed at the marathon or half marathon distance count as qualifying events. The Rock ‘n’ Roll New York 10k is also counted as a qualifying event in 2012. Participation in the relay distance at Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events and The Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Bike Tour will not count toward Heavy Medal awards.
Will I receive a Heavy Medal after every additional marathon and ½ marathon or will I only receive one for the highest level attained?
You will receive a Heavy Medal for completing two or more qualifying Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events. As you complete additional events you will qualify for additional medals – see the list of medals and requirements.
