Pace Team

Las Vegas Running Company

The 2014 Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & 1/2 Marathon Pace Team is presented by The Las Vegas Running Company. Their team will lead groups for the following finish times:

Half Marathon: 1:20, 1:25, 1:30, 1:35, 1:45, 1:52, 2:00, 2:15, 2:20, 2:30

Marathon: 3:05, 3:10, 3:15, 3:25, 3:30, 3:35, 3:40, 3:45, 3:55, 4:00, 4:10, 4:25, 4:30

How do I find the Pace Leader on race day?

On race day there will be (1-2) pace leaders per pace group lined up in the corrals with the rest of the runners. Pace leaders will be carrying bright signage that denotes the goal finish time (e.g. 2:00 =2 hour chip time finish).  The sign will be attached to a stick so that it is visible throughout the race.

How do I sign up for the Pace Team?

It’s FREE and easy! Simply line up at the race start line area 10-20 minutes before the race starts to find your pace leader. Look for your pace leader and line up in that group. You do not need to register to run with the pace group.

* The Meb Corral will be located between corrals 6 and 7. Runners that are assigned to corrals 7-48 MUST go to the ‘Solutions’ desk in the registration area at the Health & Fitness Expo and provide proof of running in the 1:45 range in the last 12 months.

While at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Expo, stop by the Las Vegas Running Company booth to meet the pacers, talk to the coaches, and ask questions.

Corrals

The start line corral system allows for a smooth race start for participants of varying levels. Based on the estimated finish time that you provide on your race entry form, you are assigned a race number and corresponding corral, with other participants of similar running pace.

Wave Start

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series pioneered the weave start to provide every one of our participants with as comfortable a run as possible and it will be back again in Las Vegas in 2014.

Participants are assigned to an appropriate corral based on the projected finishing time submitted on their entry form. Typically, there are multiple waves assigned to several of the finishing times. All spectators should be aware of this when organizing their viewing schedule for the day.

  • The first corral will be released when the gun is fired. The rest of the participants will be held at the start line.
  • At pre-determined intervals the next corral will be released.
  • By using this staggered starting method, the pack will be spread out and allow every runner to settle into their racing rhythm from the first step right to the finish line.

The wave plan will take 90 minutes to complete. Expected start times for groups of corrals are below:

  • Corrals 1-16: 4:30 PM
  • Corrals 17-31: 4:50 PM
  • Corrals: 32-48: 5:20 PM

Gear Check

We understand our runners may need to bring items to the race start that they do not want to carry with them and we are here to hold your belongings as safe as possible. At Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas we partner with UPS to use over 30 of their well-known Brown Trucks to organize and hold all your race gear. Read below for more information on your Las Vegas Gear Check experience.

  • Before you enter your assigned corral, drop-off your pre-race/post-race clothing and belongings at the Gear Check. While you run, your gear will be held at Gear Check.
  • Each participant will receive a large, durable gear bag at the Health & Fitness Expo when you pick up your packet that will serve as your gear bag on race day. Gear Check trucks will be arranged alphabetically and by truck number near the Start Line. Attach your gear tag to your gear bag before you leave it with the Gear Check crew. After the race, reclaim your checked bag at the designated Gear Check area.
  • Please note: DO NOT leave valuables, cash or jewelry in your gear bag. The event is not responsible for any lost items. Gear bags must be claimed before close of the Finish Line Festival on race day.

Secure Zone

  • Once you cross the finish line, you’ll enter the Secure Zone, a fenced off area designated for participants only. In the Secure Zone, have your photo taken, refuel with water and refreshments and receive your finisher’s medal. Once you leave the Secure Zone, you cannot re-enter. Just outside of the Secure Zone, you can snag your gear bag at the Gear Check.

Chronotrack Timing System

  • State of the art ChronoTrack systems will be used to record participants’ times at the start, at certain splits along the courses and at the finish. The ChronoTrack system uses a disposable tag, called a D Tag, which allows you to walk away from the finish without the need to have your tag collected.
  • The ChronoTrack timing tag (D Tag) will be attached to your race bib. The D Tag will be labeled with a number that matches your race number. When you pick up your bib, please make sure these numbers match, and also verify that YOUR name is printed on the bib you are issued*. Proceed to the Solutions Table if any of the information is incorrect.
  • Prior to the race, you must remove the tag from your number and attach it to your shoe. Please follow the instructions provided in your registration packet.
  • PLEASE NOTE: All participants in this race must sport the ChronoTrack timing tag on your shoe in order to have their times recorded. ChampionChip timing equipment will NOT be used at this race; ChampionChip timing chips will NOT record your time.
  • *If you register for the race before online registration closes, your ChronoTrack timing tag should have your name printed on it.
  • Visit chronotrack.com for more information.

Age Group Awards

Age group awards will be presented 3-deep in all divisions, for both the marathon and half marathon and male and female categories. Awards will be mailed within 4 to 6 weeks of results being finalized. In accordance with USATF Rules, overall and cash awards will be determined by gun time while age group awards will be determined by your ChronoTrack time.
