About Charles “Chip” Esten

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Charles “Chip” Esten was raised in Alexandria, VA and attended T.C. Williams High School (made famous in the film “Remember the Titans.”) He then attended The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, where he graduated with a degree in economics and met his eventual wife, Patty. While in Williamsburg, he was lead singer/songwriter in a popular local band.

Esten’s many additional television credits include recurring roles on “Big Love,” “Enlightened,” “The Office” and “ER.” Besides being the father on Disney Channel’s “Jessie,” he has been a Klingon on “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” a secretary on “Murphy Brown” and Kelly Bundy’s fiance on the series finale of “Married with Children.” His film credits include “Swing Vote,” “Thirteen Days,” “61*” and “The Postman.”

While on “Nashville”, Esten has been honored to perform at the Grand Ole Opry and the historic Ryman auditorium. He was also honored to officially “flip the switch” at the 2013 Graceland Christmas Lighting ceremony.  Many of the songs he has performed as Deacon (Undermine, Sideshow, Playin’ Tricks, etc..) are available on the three very successful “Nashville” soundtracks that have been released to date.

About Clare Bowen

Clare Bowen currently stars as Scarlett O’Connor on ABC’s musical drama television series “Nashville”. Created by Callie Khouri and also starring Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere, the series premiered in October 2012 to critical acclaim and was nominated in both 2013 and 2014 for “Favorite New TV Drama” at the People’s Choice Awards. Season two premiered on September 25, 2013.  

Comprised of originals and covers performed by Bowen and her co-stars, the debut album The Music of Nashville: Season 1, Volume 1 rose to #1 in the Country Album category and #12 in the All Genre Album category on iTunes within hours of its release by Big Machine Records on December 11, 2012. Big Machine has continued the momentum with the release of both The Music of Nashville: Season 1, Volume 2 on May 7, 2013 and The Music of Nashville: Season 2, Volume 1 on December 10, 2013.A native Australian, Bowen has appeared in several of her home country’s iconic television dramas, including “Home and Away”, “All Saints”, “The Cut”, and “Chandon Pictures”. She also appeared in the Australian film The Combination. 

Bowen resides in Nashville, Tennessee, where she is currently collaborating with T-Bone Burnett on her debut solo album. Burnett served as the Executive Music Producer on Season 1 of “Nashville”.

Special Guest:  Chris CarmackChris Carmack

Chris Carmack currently stars as Will Lexington on ABC’s musical drama series “Nashville”. Chris studied at NYU’s esteemed Tisch Adler Conservatory for two years before heading out to Los Angeles, where he helped launch the theatrical production of “Elephant.” His work in the play attracted the attention of the producers from the hit drama “The O.C.,” who cast him as Luke Ward in the series in 2003.

After completing his work on “The O.C.,” Carmack returned to the stage in NY at the Roundabout Theater Company, where he took on the role of Sloan in “Entertaining Mr. Sloan,” alongside Alec Baldwin and Jan Maxwell. Most recently Carmack was in London playing John Buchanan in Tennessee Williams’ “Summer and Smoke.”

All marathon, 1/2 marathon, mini and kids participants will gain free entry with their race number. 

Live Music Every Mile

Music makes up the heart and “sole” of this event. Live bands will be performing a variety of music from alternative, classic and punk rock to blues, jazz and soul along each mile of the race course. The bands set the tempo for this marathon party, where runners and spectators alike will be “dancin’ in the streets” to these mini-concerts.

Spirit on the Course Competition

Attention Cheer Teams and Dance Squads: we need you! High school and middle school cheer and dance teams are invited to compete in the Spirit on the Course competition. Cheer teams will line the course ready to encourage participants every step of the way. Costumes and themes are optional, smiles and enthusiasm are required.
