Nashville: Road Closures
Information about road closures, alternate access routes, and no parking zones for the 2013 St. Jude Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon presented by Nissan is now available. Information provided on this page is subject to change.
- The St. Jude Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon presented by Nissan will bring over 30,000 runners and walkers to Nashville, in addition to tens of thousands of spectators, family and friends.
- The ING Kids Rock to take place Sunday, April 28 will have over 6,000 child participants!
- To get the most out of your weekend and minimize stress, be aware of the road closures in your area and plan ahead for an alternate route or added travel time.
- Join the fun! Nashville residents are encouraged to visit the free Health & Fitness Expo at the Nashville Convention Center, volunteer during race weekend, line the course to cheer runners to the finish.

Drivers are encouraged to adjust travel time within and around the race course.
Most road closures and detours along the routes will be in effect between 6:00 am and 1:30 pm. At 6:00 am, police and event personnel will implement a soft closure along the entire race course. The races begin at 6:45 am, and streets will reopen on a rolling basis as soon as the last participant has passed and all course support materials have been removed. Streets along the earlier miles of the route will open earlier than roads along the end of the route. Please review the road closure grid and course map for more information. Residents and businesses located near the race course are urged to plan ahead and to be aware of road closure schedules and alternate access routes.
Road Closures on Sunday, April 28 for ING KiDS Rock
Please also plan ahead for road closures in downtown Nashville on Sunday, April 28. From 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM, the following streets will be closed for the ING KiDS Rock race.
- Union Street from 3rd Avenue North to the Woodland Street Bridge
- Woodland Street from the Bridge to Interstate Drive

Alternate Access Routes
ALTERNATE ROUTES TO DOWNTOWN:
To reach locations north of Broadway:
- Take the Church Street exit off of the downtown I-65/40 loop
- Turn east towards downtown off of the exit ramp
- Please review downtown road closures when planning the remainder of your route
To reach locations south of Broadway:
- Take the 2nd/4th Ave. exit off of the downtown I-40 loop
- Merge north towards downtown off of the exit ramp
- Please review downtown road closures when planning the remainder of your route
ALTERNATE ROUTES TO METROCENTER
To reach locations north of Rosa Parks Boulevard:
- Take the Jefferson Street exit off of I-24. (If traveling on I-24 East, turn right on Spring Street off of the exit. Spring Street becomes Jefferson.)
- Turn right onto 3rd Avenue.
- Stay straight on 3rd Avenue.
- Pass Christie Cookie distribution center on left & Metro Water Facility on right.
- 3rd Avenue becomes Dominican Drive and brings you into Metrocenter.
- Turn right on French Landing (before the traffic light at Rosa Parks Boulevard) and proceed to your destination.
- Please review Metrocenter road closures when planning the remainder of your route
To reach locations south of Rosa Parks Boulevard:
- Enter the Metrocenter area by Clarksville Highway
- There will be a metering point at Rosa Parks Boulevard and Mainstream Drive where you can proceed to your destination

ALTERNATE ROUTE TO EAST NASHVILLE
- From I-24, take Spring Street/Ellington Pkwy exit #47A
- The exit ramp curves right. At the first fork, stay right.
- DO NOT GET ON ELLINGTON PARKWAY
- Get in the left lane, which brings you to the intersection of James Robertson Pkwy/Main Street and 5th Street/Spring Street (the roads change names at this intersection)
- Turn left on Main Street at the light
- Turn right on Forrest Avenue or continue on Main Street which becomes Gallatin Avenue and proceed to your destination
- Please review East Nashville road closures when planning the remainder of your route.
No Parking
Streets along the race course will be marked with No Parking signs approximately 72 hours before the event. By law, vehicles in violation of these posted signs will be ticketed and towed at the owners’ expense. See a list of no parking zones here.
MTA Detours
On Saturday, April 27, several MTA bus routes will be on detour. For more details, visit www.nashvillemta.org or contact the Metropolitan Transit Authority office at (615) 862-5950.
