Volunteer Program Overview

Help support your community, as well as thousands of runners and the walkers by volunteering! With over 2,500 positions available there is a spot for everyone, including teams, corporate groups, or just friends and family. Click the blue “Race Crew” button below to volunteer for the Race Crew. Click the red “Medical” button below to volunteer for the Medical Team.

Race Crew volunteers assist with nearly every aspect of the event, including the Health & Fitness Expo, Start Line, Finish Line, and the Water Stations along the course. Simply click either of the blue “Race Crew” buttons below to sign up online.

Shift Information

= Crucial Shifts: These shifts are difficult to fill! If you are able to attend any shift on this particular day, we encourage you to do so.

May 31 to June 2 – Health and Fitness Expo

  • Location: San Diego Convention Center, Halls C-D
  • Thursday, May 31 – 1:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Friday, June 1 – 9:00am to 2:30pm | 1:30pm to 7:00pm (“all day” available)
  • Saturday, June 2 – 8:00am to 1:30pm | 12:30pm to 6:00pm (“all day” available)
Saturday, 6/2 – ING KiDS ROCK

  • Location: Sea World
  • Time: 7:30am to 12:00 noon (subject to change)
 Sunday, 6/3 – Marathon/Half Split Point

  • Location: On course (location to be provided)
  • Time: 5:00am to 10:00am (subject to change)
Sunday, 6/3 – Start Line

  • Location: 6th Ave. & Quince St. (Balboa Park)
  • Time: 4:00am – 7:30am
 Sunday, 6/3 – Finish Line

  • Location: Sea World
  • General Shift: 5:00am – 2:30pm
  • Runner Gear Return Shift: 6:30am – 2:30pm
Sunday, 6/3 – Water Stations

  • Location: Varied along course
  • Times: Varied

 Sunday, 6/3 – Relay Transition Zone

  • Location: On course (location to be provided)
  • Time: 5:00am to 12:00pm (subject to change)

The Medical Team is dedicated to providing rapid assessment and administering acute first aid services to event participants. The team is made up of volunteers from many medical institutions within the local community. Be a part of this vital group of volunteers!

Shift Information

Start Line: 4:30am – 7:30am

Course Aid Stations: times vary by location

Finish Line: 6:00am – 3:00pm
