It will be a hometown gig  for the three members of The Presidents of the United States of America when they  play in front of more than 20,000 runners at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon & 1/2 Marathon. The band got its start in Seattle more than two decades ago and will headline the post-race concert on Saturday, June 21!

Their debut self-titled album spawned huge radio hits like “Lump” and “Peaches,” earning them two Grammy nominations. Over the years, the band has continued to record and tour, creating new fans and selling out shows in London, Amsterdam, New York and Seattle. The rockers recently released their sixth studio album, titled Kudos to You!

Second Headliner: Sir Mix-A-Lot

Seattle is known for spawning numerous bands who have reached the heights of success, mostly in the grunge rock genre. But one of the city’s biggest hitmakers is the author of the legendary lyrics to “Baby Got Back,” Sir Mix-A-Lot, who will perform at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon & ½ Marathon on Saturday, June 21 at Seattle Center.

Long before his comic novelty song sparked a cultural debate about women and became a phenomenon that radio and record companies couldn’t deny, Sir Mix-A-Lot aka Anthony Ray was already a platinum selling artist. Born and raised in Seattle, a city which at the time had little rap influence to speak of, Sir Mix–A-Lot founded his own label, promoted his own music and produced all his own tracks. While many of his songs found success, it was “Baby Got Back” that catapulted him to the mainstream, selling over two million copies and winning a Grammy.

This Course Rocks!

Music every mile makes up the heart and “sole” of this event. Live Seattle bands will be performing a variety of music from alternative to classic rock, punk, funk and blues to jazz it up. Runners and spectators alike will be “Dancin’ in the Streets” to these mini-concerts.

If your band is interested in the opportunity to perform, please submit your materials.
