LIVE. MUSIC. EVERY. MILE.
That’s right, live rock bands every mile along the course. And we don’t mean strumming guitarists on the side of roads or in trees– we’re talking professionally staged and equipped uber-talented local groups eager to push those legs of yours closer to the finish line. Feast your ears on a variety of sounds from alternative, classic and punk rock to blues, jazz and soul along each mile of the race course. The bands set the tempo for this half marathon block party, where runners and spectators alike will be “dancin’ in the streets.”
Rock Around the Block Competition
Recruit Your Neighbors to Rock Around the Block and Win Up to $750!
This friendly neighborhood competition provides an opportunity for Virginia Beach residents to be a part of all the Rock ‘n’ Roll fun without having to run. It’s easy to participate! Locals, recruit your fellow neighbors to take to the streets on race day with a unique and spirited block theme. Your job is to keep runners and walkers motivated and entertained as they make their way past your neighborhood toward the finish line. Dream up your theme, create your props, organize your costumes and get ready to shine – your goal is to create the best and most fun cheer station along the course. All neighborhoods will be judged on theme creativity, execution, and overall energy.
To participate in the competition and compete for cash prizes please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your neighborhood captain’s name, email, phone number, cheer station theme and proposed course location by Sunday, August 24th.
